The Salvation Army of Montgomery County to Host Free Emergency Disaster Training for Community Volunteers
Conroe, TX — The Salvation Army of Montgomery County is inviting members of the community to participate in a FREE Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Training Event designed to equip volunteers to assist during local emergencies and, when needed, larger regional or national disaster response efforts.
This two-day training will take place at The Salvation Army’s main facility located at 301 Avenue E, Conroe, TX 77301, and is open to individuals who are interested in becoming certified disaster response volunteers.
Training Schedule:
- Friday, January 16 – 5:30 p.m. ServSafe Certification
- Saturday, January 17 | 8:30 a.m. – Disaster Food Service & Canteen Operations
The training will prepare volunteers to support disaster response operations such as mass feeding, mobile canteen services, and on-site assistance to first responders and displaced families during times of crisis.
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required ant the following link.

All registered participants will receive a follow-up email with instructions to complete their Emergency Disaster Services volunteer profile prior to attending the training.
“Disasters can happen at any time, and having trained, local volunteers makes a significant difference in how quickly and effectively a community can respond,” said Lt. Cody Johns from The Salvation Army of Montgomery County. “This training allows community members to be prepared to serve their neighbors when help is needed most.”
The Salvation Army has a long-standing history of providing emergency disaster relief, including food service, emotional and spiritual care, and logistical support following natural disasters and emergencies across Texas and the nation.
Community members, businesses, and civic leaders interested in volunteerism and community resilience are encouraged to register and attend.
