Texas Bar Foundation Awards a $5,000 Grant to Children’s Safe Harbor
The Texas Bar Foundation has recently awarded a $5,000 grant to Children’s Safe Harbor, for a regional conference entitled: The Collaborative Approach to Child Abuse Investigations. As a children’s advocacy center providing specialized services to child victims of sexual assault, child sex trafficking and exploitation, severe physical abuse and witnessing violence in the counties of Montgomery, Walker, and San Jacinto, it is critical that frontline investigators and the community understand the unique services provided to families to foster healing and justice.
Children’s Safe Harbor has previously presented two regional conferences (in 2008 and 2012) that have been extremely successful. Comprehensive training is critical to ensuring that staff and investigative team members are equipped with the tools they need to support children and families throughout their case. The 2024 regional conference is planned to provide the largest number of attendees from the surrounding counties in southeast Texas.
“Our conference planning team is delighted to have received this support from the Texas Bar Foundation. It is our first time to partner with the Texas Bar Foundation and the process to receive this partial funding for the conference was very thorough and insightful,” said Victoria Constance, MSPH, Ph.D., Executive Director of Children’s Safe Harbor.
Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $27 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation's largest charitably-funded bar foundation.
