About Us

visit the Crighton Theatre, Conroe's grande dame of arts, built n 1934 by former Conroe Mayor, harry Crighton. The only theatre of its kind in Montgomery County, it boasts events ranging from Broadway Musicals, to grade-school productions. Located on the Courthouse Square in downtown Conroe, the Crighton Theatre was originally to be used as a vaudeville house, then later became a movie theater. After it fell into disrepair and stood vacant for over a decade, the abandoned, run-down theatre was donated by the Crighton family to the Montgomery County Foundation for Performing Arts, DBA The Crighton Theatre Foundation. The Crighton Theatre's stage has been graced by such notable performers as Burl Ives, the National Shakespeare Theatre, Debbie Reynolds, clint Black, Vince Gill, Ray Price, the One O'clock Jazz Band, Mickey Gilly, and many more! Today the Crighton serves as a home of Sage Right of Texas, Christian Youth Theatre, and numerous other performing companies.
