Session Description: Peacebuilding/Conflict Transformation: East & Central Africa (1.00 hour) Dr. Célestin Musekura will present on how his extensive experiences can enhance mediators, attorneys, and other peacekeepers’ mediation skills and techniques. Drawing from his expertise in peacebuilding and conflict transformation in East and Central Africa, Dr. Musekura will provide unique insights into the challenges and opportunities for mediation and reconciliation in regions impacted by violence and injustice. His lessons are directly applicable to the professional lives of attorneys and other professionals, offering valuable perspectives on effective mediation and conflict resolution skillsets. Learning Objectives: After attending this presentation, participants will be able to: 1. Understand the historical and socio-political context of conflicts in East and Central Africa. 2. Identify effective strategies for conflict resolution, mediation, and forgiveness in post-conflict societies. 3. Evaluate the impact of ALARM's work in developing servant leaders and transforming lives affected by conflict. 4. Have mediators, attorneys, and others recognize and apply ADR skillsets in their own roles in promoting peace and reconciliation in their respective contexts.
